CAI Presents at Colorado APA Conference
On October 4th and 5th, Terri Musser and Jennifer Valentine of Charlier Associates, Inc. attended the APA Colorado Conference in Colorado Springs, CO.
CAI teamed with Crissy Fanganello (Denver Public Works) and Monica Buhlig (Denver Healthy People) to lead an extended session entitled “Context Sensitive Solutions for Designing Active Communities and Retrofitting Urban Thoroughfares.”The session began with an introduction to the transect zones and an explanation of how they apply to Federal Boulevard, the case study corridor. Other topics discussed include:
- The relationship between transportation and land use
- Planning for travel, circulation and access
- The relationship between health and the built environment
- Environmental justice and health disparities
- Designing for active living, active transportation and recreation
- Federal Boulevard case study
- An introduction to the CSS manual
