Terri Musser Speaks at Colorado Institute for Leadership Training

On August 26, 2007, Terri Musser of Charlier Associates presented policy initiatives for “Sustainable Mobility” to an Advanced Class for Alumni of the Colorado Institute for Leadership Training (CILT). CILT brings together emerging progressive leaders from the private, non-profit and public sectors of Colorado to build their leadership skills and learn about local and statewide issues, policies and advocacy. Terri facilitated group discussions centered around the environmental, economic and social equity implications of transportation projects and policies. A pdf of the presentation is below.

Her presentation followed a CILT class the day before on health care policy, which generated significant interest in Sustainable Mobility discussions on Active Living and obesity trends. Data presented from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) are posted here in PowerPoint form. The discussion was timely, as the next day the CDC released the new obesity rate statistics for 2006, with obesity rates rising in 31 states. Colorado remains the only state in the nation that has obesity prevalent in less than 20% of the population.
