Jim Charlier speaks to Blue Ribbon Panel

On September 25, Jim Charlier spoke to the Colorado Governor’s Blue Ribbon Transportation Finance and Implementation Panel on the subject of “Sustainable Mobility and Location Efficiency.”

Gov. Ritter has established this blue ribbon panel to explore funding and implementation options for Colorado's transportation system. The panel kicked off its work on April 5, when nearly 600 people gathered for the 'Bridges to the 21st Century' statewide transportation summit. The panel then held its first official meeting on April 19th, 2007. It will continue meeting throughout the year before reporting back to Gov. Ritter at the end of 2007.

Jim’s presentation focused on “sustainable mobility” including such issues as climate change, energy prices and policy, transportation economics and smart growth in the context of community transportation networks. Jim presented a set of “Colorado policy choices” and also summarized emerging federal policy initiatives. A set of resources is provided at the end of the presentation. Early indications are the panel intends to incorporate at least some of the ideas Jim presented into its recommendations to the Governor.
