AIA Montana

AIA Montana held their annual fall conference in Helena, September 18-20, with a program of speakers focusing on the theme of Livable Communities.  Architects statewide are interested in becoming leaders in taking sustainable practices to a higher level and focusing on larger scale impacts they can make within their communities.
As a guest transportation planner, Terri Musser of Charlier Associates kicked off the conference program with a presentation entitled “The Structure and The Street.” She addressed critical relationships between transportation and land use, and how transportation professionals and architects can work together toward common goals. Topics covered included the sustainability, accessibility and livability concepts of the LEED ND Pilot Program for Neighborhood Development, Sustainable Mobility, Active Living by Design, Context-Sensitive Solutions, and Location Efficiency.
